About Us

The International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) is the only organization in the world dedicated exclusively to the furthering of cosmetic science.

We are comprised of 50 Societies of Cosmetic Chemists from around this world, which represent 80 Countries and 14,000+ individuals. We have grown a substantially since our founding in 1959 when 8 Societies joined together to ensure the flow of scientific findings. We welcomed a new Society in 2020, and we look forward to continued expansion as additional Societies meet our Membership Requirements.

To promote cosmetic science, to recognize outstanding research, and to strengthen the ties between scientists, the IFSCC focuses on the following areas:

Annual International Scientific Event:

A Congress is held each fall to showcase the most up-to-date research findings and to encourage the face-to-face exchange of information.

Awards:

In addition to Awards recognizing the best research presented at an IFSCC Annual Scientific Event, we award an IFSCC-sponsored trip each year to a young scientist so that they can attend the next year’s Scientific Event.

Publications:

The IFSCC Magazine is published on-line four times and year, and features cutting-edge cosmetic science research from around the globe. The IFSCC Magazine is free to any Member of our Member Societies; registration required.  We also publish an on-line newsletter frequently throughout the year.  Monographs, which present a scientific topic in detail, are available on a range of topics.

IFSCC Website:

To keep our 14,000+ individual Members informed of cosmetic science events and happenings around the world.  The Members’ Zone contains the IFSCC Magazine and other content exclusively for IFSCC Members.

KOSMET

The only global cosmetic science database.  There are currently more than 100,000 items in the KOSMET database, and more are added each month.  Access is free to any Member of our Member Societies; registration required.

Educational Events:

Throughout the year the IFSCC sponsors the International Speakers Program, which sends internationally recognized cosmetic scientists to present at events around the world. We are particularly proud of our Ecaterina Merica Cosmetic Education Programme, which sends two well regarded Speakers to lead seminars in lesser developed countries.

Lester Conrad Educational Prize:

A three-year grant to support the educational efforts of an IFSCC Member Society in the developing world.

The IFSCC is grateful to the generous support of our many Benefactors who make our outreach, education, and publication efforts possible.
